The Light + Building exhibit is the leading world trade fair for Lighting and Building Services technology and the Spring 2018 edition of it is sure to become a hotspot for design. Running from March 18th through the 23rd, this Fair will be focused upon various styles, which incorporate the latest designs for the home with expertly chosen products that are sure to generate fresh and unique scenarios for living spaces. What you'll see in the limelight are not only new product evolutions, but also familiar classics and ingenious advances.

The general themes for the 2018 show were devised by the internationally acclaimed team of Cem Bora, Annetta Palmisano, and Claudia Herke vom Stilburo: bora.herke.palmisano Trend Bureau of Frankfurt am Main and Berlin.

The first theme is Evoke Emotions. It's about eliciting mood and a sense of well-being. Designs in this trend are linked to feelings of comfort. The creative team will transform those emotions into the language of design and integrate them into everyday life, using "smart" materials and product innovations.

The second theme for the 2018 show is Imagine Mutation. Celebrating anomaly and diversity in an overt way, this trend is intended to make a striking artistic impression. Like modern art, these designs are meant to move visitors far away from everyday life.

The third theme will be Revive Hominess. Simple and straightforward, this trend creates a cozy and harmonious atmosphere. It uses intimate, reverential lighting, which includes areas of darkness to achieve overall ambience.

The final theme at the Lighting + Building fair is Create History, which is meant to evoke a nostalgic past. Brimming with both historical allusion and future promise, elegant coloration combines with antique items and collectables to create an Aladdin's cave effect — filled with wondrous things. Through the use of the latest technology, nostalgic designs are shown to become something quite new and almost mythological. This theme is where historical expression and future promise meet.

During Light + Building, the design consultant from the bora.herke.palmisano studio will offer daily lectures, with subsequent guided tours which will include additional detail and background information.
